It’s a Strange Time

But I’m back writing, at least.

I have found it extremely difficult to write for the last few weeks, and if I am

honest with you, I haven’t written much at all. Certain stresses and

pressures have appeared in my working life, and as a consequence, my

mental health has been affected. I wouldn’t wish to go further to explain

what is happening, as that wouldn’t be right. But I am at home and have this

urge to write, so here we are.

I did an online consultation with my GP surgery. The result is that I now

have a GP calling me on Friday. I know my condition isn’t life-threatening; it

could be. I’m not overly concerned about the wait; it should be a chance for

me to write. Tiredness, motivation, and, I suppose, a slight depression are

what I am battling. I’ll get there.

The news from ‘Beasting Dartmoor’ is a little frustrating. Unfortunately, the

person editing my novel has found that they are overwhelmingly busy and

won’t get to mine until the new year. It’s not frustrating; it’s how the

writing business is. Writers and editors have to write, and life can get hectic.

In the meantime, I do have ‘Mince Pies’ to continue writing. I had hoped to

get the first draft completed before the end of the year, but I’m not so sure

about that just at this moment. I will give it a go. I think that ‘Mince Pie

Murders may have a better opportunity of being picked up by a publisher

than my first one.

In this strange world that we find ourselves in this week, there is much

doom and gloom and whys and wherefores. I’m stepping away from

newsfeeds for a while and wild social media posts in the hope that when I

return to them, the news may have settled down to something that looks

and sounds normal. I can only hope. I don’t know how far I can go in putting

myself and my loved ones in a bubble, but perhaps we all need to shield

ourselves from a ‘rogue state’.
